Observed around the world every March, is a month-long celebration in honor of all women and their contributions to our society, culture, business and politics. The City Government of Dagupan in cooperation with the Department of Education proudly joins the Women’s Month Celebration through a youth competition themed as “Babae, Tagumpay ka ng Bayan” - highlighting the women’s advancement and empowerment amidst major challenges.

Competitions in Essay writing, Painting and Oration were enjoined by students (primary, secondary and tertiary levels) in all districts sheltering the city. The event was held simultaneously at the Division Training Center, Dagupan City on March 17, 2010.

John Louie A. dela Vega, a Mass Comm student of Colegio de Dagupan bested other contestants from different institutions as he bagged the first place in the essay competition. Mr. Jay Evangelista stood up as his coach.

Councilor Farah Marie Decano, City Council chairman on the Committee on Women, Children & Family Affairs (CWCFA) lead the event by giving her encouraging words concerning the standing of women in our society.

Below are my subsequent essays. The first one is in Filipino which happened to be the said medium. Just the day after my mentor have announced it, it was turned to English which made me worry. Nevertheless, my harwork paid off.
